My Home

Last Chinese New Year (around February, 2003) I moved outside Taipei city and into HsinTien (XinDian- 新店).  I got lucky and found a big house up on a hill very cheap.  It's so cheap because it's next to a graveyard and none of the locals want to live here so the owner rents it to me. It's very peaceful and quiet here, much unlike the city.  It's even much cooler up here in the mountains.  I hope to stay here a long time.

This is a view of BiTan from the river.  This is the side I live on, the quiet, peaceful side.  The other side is like a small town.  By the temple is a large park.  Below that big building on the left is my house.  The mountain behind and the river in front give me perfect FengShui.  (風水)
My front yard: Unlike everyone else I know I have a yard, a real rarity in Taipei.  It has four palm trees and a rock garden.  I strung a hammock up which I used a bit during the summer (it's only fallen once).
My living room.  Not much to see, bare walls, generic furniture.  The fish tank is empty.
Moon rise, taken from the graveyard while I was walking Annie.
A paper money burning barrel.  There was probably  a ceremony in the graveyard earlier and someone left it to burn out.
Morris, the giant snail that lives in our yard.
Another large snail in the yard.
A giant spider I found in the bathroom.
One of my neighbors grows this type of flower that only blooms once a year and only for a few hours at night.  I happened to be there at the right time.
Sunset over the graveyard, taken from my roof.
The view from my roof. The building way out there is Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world.
