At the gate of Vatopedi Monastery there were paintings of early Greek philosophers. This is Plato.

The sculls of reposed fathers of the monastery are piled near the grave yard where they await the resurrection. While it may seem strange today, this is an old monastic practice.
We were asked not to take pictures inside the monastery courtyard. However we went on a walk outside and I took several.
By the docs there were several idiorhythmic sketes where monks live in small communities independently of the monasteries. They care for their own needs with little jobs, such as fishing.
